A quaint 1BR1BA cottage under 500sqft ADU, this unit was built for the property owner’s mother so she can be closer to family. The floor plan was customized by the family, after they had found a plan close to what they had in mind.

Mylinh had been looking for an ADU builder for years, as she considered bringing her aging mother closer on her property in San Diego. A “granny flat” seemed a perfect option to maintain independence while also supporting family over time.

The property is in Rancho Penasquitos, and had a spacious back yard. SnapADU’s all-inclusive service, covering design, permitting, building, and finishes, made the process straightforward, avoiding the usual construction upsells. The simplicity of choosing interior finishes from set packages, with the option to customize, was particularly appreciated. Mylinh and her husband were so pleased with the ADU that they may consider living in it themselves one day.
