Modern One Bedroom ADU for Dad in San Diego

This one bedroom, one bath ADU just under 500 sqft is being designed as a comfortable home for the homeowner’s father. The homeowner first found SnapADU after seeing our signage while we were building another ADU nearby on Nile Street.

The semi-custom design will start with one of our standard plans, with modifications tailored to the homeowner’s needs and the property. Because the site is located near a freeway, the design will avoid windows facing the freeway and incorporate soundproofing materials to help reduce traffic noise. Inside, the ADU will feature an open kitchen with an island and higher ceilings in the living room to make the compact floor plan feel more spacious. A small deck will provide additional outdoor living space.

Site planning is also important for this backyard build. An existing sewer easement runs along the rear property line and includes a manhole, so the ADU will be positioned to maintain the required clearance while making efficient use of the remaining yard.
