Homeowner Story: Generate rental income
This completed 749 sqft ADU was built behind an existing single-family home to generate rental income. The homeowner selected one of SnapADU’s standard 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom plans to save time and design costs while benefiting from a proven & predictable space-efficient layout. Keeping the ADU just under 750 sqft also helped avoid additional impact fees.
The L-shaped floor plan features an open-concept living area with the kitchen arranged along one wall. Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom, while one bathroom also provides hall access for guests. An in-unit washer and dryer add convenience for tenants. The space within the “L” creates a private patio that extends the living area outdoors.
The all-electric ADU was constructed in a High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, requiring fire-rated construction. Site preparation included removing several trees and the home’s existing rear patio cover. After construction, the homeowner completed the outdoor area with a small lawn, mulch, and additional landscaping.
