Privacy Policy

1. About this policy

SnapADU is a licensed design-build general contractor based in San Diego County, California. We design, permit, and build detached accessory dwelling units.

This policy explains what personal information we collect through snapadu.com and in the course of our work, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

This policy does not cover:

  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies, which are described in our Cookie Policy.
  • Information we collect from employees and job applicants.
  • The practices of other websites we link to.

2. Information we collect

From you directly

Contact and project inquiry forms. Your name, email address, phone number, the address of the property you are considering for an ADU, and any details you provide about the project. Anything else you choose to write in a message field.

Phone calls and text messages. Your phone number, the content of messages, and recordings of calls. See Sections 6 and 7.

Email signups. Your email address, and your name if you provide it.

Client project information. If you become a client, we collect what we need to design, permit, and build your project: property records, site conditions, plans and drawings, photographs of your property, our correspondence with you, and contract and payment records.

We do not collect payment card information through our website.

Automatically, when you visit our site

Device and usage information including IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, time on page, referring website, and approximate location inferred from IP address. Some of this is collected by Google Analytics, Google Ads, and Microsoft Clarity. Microsoft Clarity records how visitors interact with pages, including mouse movement, clicks, and scrolling.

These tools do not run until you accept non-essential cookies through our cookie banner. Our Cookie Policy lists each cookie, what it does, and how long it lasts.

From other sources

Directory, advertising, and social media platforms. We maintain profiles on third-party platforms where you can contact us without visiting our website. These include Yelp, Houzz, Google Business Profile, Google Local Services Ads, Nextdoor, Patch, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

If you contact us through one of these platforms, we receive whatever information the platform passes to us, which typically includes your name, the contact details you provided there, and a description of the project you are interested in. The platform collects that information under its own privacy policy, not ours. Once we receive it, we handle it as described in this policy.

Public property records. To assess whether a property can support an ADU, we review publicly available information including county assessor records, parcel and zoning data, permit history, and aerial imagery.

What we do not collect

We do not collect Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account numbers, precise device geolocation, biometric information, or information about your race, religion, health, sexual orientation, or union membership.

If you ask us to connect you with a lender, you complete their application directly with them. Credit and financing paperwork does not pass through our systems.

3. How we use your information

  • To respond to your inquiry and answer questions about ADU feasibility, cost, and timeline
  • To prepare feasibility assessments, proposals, and pricing
  • To design, permit, and build your project, and to communicate with you throughout
  • To coordinate with city and county agencies, utilities, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors
  • To administer contracts and process payments
  • To send marketing emails and text messages, where you have agreed to receive them
  • To advertise our services, including showing ads to people who have visited our website
  • To measure and improve how our website and advertising perform
  • To review recorded calls for training and quality
  • To keep records required by law, our contractor license obligations, and our insurance
  • To prevent fraud and abuse, and to enforce our agreements

We use software tools that help us prioritize and organize incoming inquiries. These tools do not make decisions about pricing, whether we will work with you, or the terms we offer. Those decisions are made by our staff.

4. Who we share information with

Service providers. Companies that perform services for us under contract, including website hosting, our CRM, email marketing, call tracking and recording, text messaging, analytics, document storage, and payment processing. They may use your information only to provide services to us.

Design, engineering, and construction partners. Architects, engineers, surveyors, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers who need project information to do their work.

Government agencies. Cities, the County of San Diego, utilities, and other authorities, as needed to submit and process permit applications.

Lenders, only if you ask. If you ask us to connect you with a financing source, we will introduce you and share your name, contact information, and basic project details. We do not do this unless you ask, and we do not receive any payment or referral fee from lenders.

Advertising and analytics partners. Google and Microsoft, as described in our Cookie Policy and in Section 8 below.

Legal and business transfers. When required by law, subpoena, or court order, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a sale of our business.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

5. Photographs of your property

We photograph and sometimes film projects during and after construction. We use these images in proposals, on our website, and in marketing. If you would prefer we not use images of your property publicly, tell your project manager and we will note it in your file.

6. Recorded phone calls

We record incoming and outgoing phone calls for quality, training, and record-keeping. California law requires all parties to a call to consent to recording, so you will hear an automated notice before a recorded call begins. If you do not want the call recorded, tell us and we will stop the recording or continue by email.

We keep call recordings for three years.

7. Text messages

Providing a phone number is optional. If you provide one and agree to be contacted by text, we may text you about your inquiry and your project. Our texts relate to your ADU project. We do not send text messages unrelated to a project you have asked us about.

Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts, or HELP for assistance.

We do not share your phone number with third parties for their own marketing.

8. Advertising and your opt-out choices

We use Google Ads, Google Analytics, and Microsoft Clarity. These tools use cookies and similar identifiers and allow our advertising partners to show you SnapADU ads on other websites based on your visit to ours. Under California law this is treated as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, even though no money changes hands.

These tools do not run unless you accept non-essential cookies.

To opt out or change your mind:

  • Use the “Your Privacy Choices” link in our website footer
  • Change your preferences through our cookie banner at any time
  • Use Google’s controls at Google Ad Settings, or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page

Opting out does not affect our ability to respond to your inquiry or work on your project.

9. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers and browser extensions can send automated privacy signals, such as “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control. There is no common industry standard for how websites respond to these signals, and our website does not currently respond to them.

You can opt out of advertising cookies at any time using our cookie banner or the “Your Privacy Choices” link in our website footer, as described in Section 8.

10. Marketing emails

If you sign up, submit an inquiry, or become a client, we may email you about our services, ADU regulations, and project examples. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link and our mailing address. You can also unsubscribe by emailing info@snapadu.com with “unsubscribe” in the subject line.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop transactional messages about an active project.

11. How long we keep information

Information How long we keep it
Inquiries that do not become projects 4 years
Client project records, contracts, plans, permits 4 years
Recorded phone calls 4 years
Text message records 4 years
Accounting and payment records 4 years
Website analytics and advertising data As set out in our Cookie Policy
Email and text marketing lists Until you opt out, after which we keep a suppression record so we do not contact you again

We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed, unless we are required to keep it longer.

12. How we protect information

We use reasonable measures to protect personal information, including limiting internal access to staff who need it and requiring our vendors to keep information confidential.

No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by California Civil Code sections 1798.29 and 1798.82, in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay.

13. Your choices and requests

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you
  • Provide a copy of it
  • Correct information that is wrong
  • Delete information we have collected from you
  • Stop sending you marketing emails or texts
  • Stop sharing your information for advertising

To make a request, email info@snapadu.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line, or call 760-428-1678. We may ask you to confirm information we already have on file, such as the email address or property address associated with your inquiry, so we can be reasonably confident of who you are.

We will respond within 45 days. If we need more time we will tell you why.

Some information we cannot delete, including permit filings, signed contracts, and accounting records we are required to keep. We will tell you if that applies to your request.

We will not treat you differently for making a request.

14. Third-party content and links

Our website includes content provided by third parties, including embedded YouTube videos, Google Maps, and Google reCAPTCHA. These providers may collect information about you when that content loads, and their own privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites we link to.

15. Children

Our services are directed to property owners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 and we do not market to children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

16. Changes and contact

We review this policy at least once a year and update it when our practices change. The “last updated” date at the top shows the most recent version. If we make significant changes we will post a notice on our website.

If you need this policy in an alternative format, contact us and we will provide it.
